Intensive Nutrition® manufactures high potency, high quality folic acid supplements under the names Folixor®, Liquid Folixor® and FolicM®.

All Folixor® products deliver the important B Vitamin, Folic Acid, sublingually or "under-the-tongue." Sublingual absorption is a superior delivery system for two reasons:

  • Buccal absorption ensures maximum bioavailability. Folic acid is absorbed by the blood capillaries of the mouth where it is then deposited directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the stomach. Sublingual delivery should be the preferred method of delivery for those individuals who due to genetics, do not metabolize folic acid efficiently.

  • When Folic Acid is ingested orally (swallowed), stomach acids quickly break down the Folic Acid, leaving little for the body to absorb.

In addition, all Folixor® tablet products contain body-ready Folinic Acid and additional ingredients that act as adjuvants, i.e. they enhance absorption even further. These ingredients are: Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6 and the amino acid, L-Leucine.
 

Folinic Acid is 5-formyl-tetrahydrofolate, a "body ready" form of folic acid. This means that folinic acid is more easily processed by the body because the body can turn it into an active or usable form of folate.

   
What roles do Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and L-Leucine play?  
Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C serve as important cofactors for folic acid absorption. They improve folic acid bioavailability. The Amino Acid L-Leucine improves overall Folixor® bioavailability by also increasing absorption of folic acid and the other B Vitamins.
